•  Do we have to pay the entire $410 up front?   No, we accept half up front & the remaining half within 30 days of sign-up.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?  Cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover

  • Since the BMV requires you to have your own vehicle for the test, can we use J&J’s vehicle at the BMV?  Yes, but we will charge $65 for a full hour of instruction.  We also will come and pick you up for your appointment and drop you off as long as you live in Bartholomew or Decatur Counties.

  •  If I fail the waiver skills test with J&J, may I schedule another test with J&J ?  Yes.

  • Can the same instructor who did some of my driving instruction also give me the waiver skills test?  Yes.

  • Can we have you do the instruction or the waiver skills test in our personal vehicle rather than a J&J vehicle for a smaller  charge?  Absolutely not.  This is not allowed due to safety and liability reasons.

  • Are you insured?  Yes, our insurance meets or exceeds the minimum State of Indiana guidelines for insurance on driving instruction vehicles.  Our vehicles have also been inspected and meet or exceed state standards.

  • Do you do background checks on your instructors?  All instructors are licensed by the State of Indiana.  One of the requirements of licensure is that the instructor must pass a full criminal background check and maintain the strict standards of conduct set forth by the State of Indiana.

  • Why did you only check “behind the wheel instruction” on the CDE Form and not check classroom instruction?  J&J only administers the behind the wheel portion of the course.  The online classroom portion is administered through a third party (Driving Brilliance), which is not affiliated with J&J ALL PRO Driving.

  • Can we receive a refund?  Usually no, but there are exceptions made under rare circumstances.  (Death of student, debilitating injury of student, family is moving out of the area, etc.)

  •  We forgot our password or our password won’t work.  What should we do?  Click “Login” at jandjdriving.com.  Then click “Forgotten password” and follow the prompts to reset your password.

  • What if something comes up and I need to cancel a driving appointment?  Call or text message one of the instructors at least 24 hours prior to the appointment.  Failure to do so will result in a $30 reschedule fee being assessed.  Exceptions will be made only in extreme emergencies.

  •  Will we have the same instructor for all 6 hours?  Usually yes, but sometimes there are exceptions.  Scheduling conflicts sometimes occur. We reserve the right to assign a different instructor in the case the student or instructor has a scheduling conflict.  We will also switch instructors if the parent requests the switch.

  •  Does the instructor have control of the car while my student is driving?  Yes.  Per state requirements, our cars are equipped with dual brakes.  We have also been trained to overtake the car if necessary by taking control of the steering wheel or throwing the car into neutral if needed.

  • We had an appointment today and the instructor did not show up.  What are you going to do about it?  In the rare case that this happens, we will make an attempt to find out why the instructor didn’t show up and attempt to improve our processes so it doesn’t happen in the future.  To make up for the inconvenience, we will be glad to offer the waiver skills test to your student free of charge.

  • Will we receive something that says we’ve finished the class when we’re done? Yes. Each student will receive an online course completion form & a behind the wheel completion form, which will also include the waiver skills test stamp if the student passed the waiver skills test with us. If the student finishes his/her online course before the last drive, we will give the paperwork to the student during the last drive. If the student is still working on the online course, but has completed all drives, we will mail the paperwork when the online course is finished. Please note: Under no circumstances will we provide anyone with completion paperwork until all course and test fees are paid in full.

  • Do you offer any discounts?  Yes,  If you register two siblings at the same time, we offer $10 off for each student. The fee will be $400 for each student.  The siblings do not have to both start the course right away.  Also, if you take 25 or more hours of instruction from us, the price per hour will be reduced to $65/hour and your test fee will be free.

  • What is the time limit for completing the course once we register?  Two full semesters (fall and spring)

  •  Do you offer a Cummins discount?  No

  •  How old does the student have to be to obtain a permit?  15 if registered in driver education or 16 without driver education.

  • How old does the student have to be to obtain a license?  16 + 90 days with the completion of driver education, or 16 + 270 days without driver education.

  • What is the required practice log?  Form available from us or the BMV that must be presented before any driver is licensed.  You must log 50 total hours of practice driving, 10 of which must be at night.

  •  I thought you could teach my kid to drive in 6 hours, but he still can’t drive!  What’s the problem?  The 6 hours we spend with the student is merely enough to touch on most aspects of driving but is not enough to go in depth or spend a great deal of time on any single type of driving or situation.  We encourage parents to allow the teen driver as much time behind the wheel as possible.  As a reminder, the 50-hour practice log is a requirement for all new drivers.  If the student needs more instruction from us, we would be happy to schedule additional hours of instruction that we can fit to the student’s needs for $65/hour.

  • Do you do instruction at night?  Sometimes it happens that way, especially in the evenings during winter months, but not necessarily.  However, we can set an hour or two of it up during dark hours if you wish.

  • As I parent, I am afraid to drive with my child. What do you suggest?  Start out in an empty lot with the very basics for as long as necessary until you are comfortable moving to roads.  Start in areas that are less busy and work your way to busier areas.  Remember, some students catch on more quickly than others.  It’s possible that you may spend a lot of time before seeing any real progress.  If it’s better for you, let us do some instruction with the student before you try it as parents.  Let us give you particular feedback on how the student did so you know what to expect.

  • My child almost had a wreck and now is so discouraged that he won’t drive anymore. What should I do?  Let the student know that making mistakes is an important part of learning.  The reason they are required to practice with us first is because this is expected to happen.  Tell the student to ride along with us for a week and he will realize that others make mistakes too and he probably isn’t as bad as he thinks at driving when comparing to others.

  • Will you pick up and drop off my student?  Yes, only in Bartholomew or Decatur Counties.  However, if the student lives in a remote area of the county, we reserve the right to ask that the student meet us halfway, at least on some of the drives.  We work out the schedule and meeting locations on an individual basis.

  • How should the student study for the knowledge test?   We have BMV Driver’s Manuals available in our office.  The manuals are also available at the BMV or online at www.in.gov/bmv.  They would click on driver education to find the link to download the manual.  Also, completing at least a portion of the online course is helpful before attempting the test.

  • Can we take the driving test with J&J or do we have to go to the BMV to take the test?  So long as the student receives a score of 80% or higher in both the online classroom and driving portions of our course, he/she may take the “waiver skills test” with us instead of taking the test at the BMV.  The student may take the test with us as soon as the entire course is complete, but must still wait until 16 & 90 days of age and has held their permit for at least 180 days & complete 50-hour practice log before going to the BMV to be licensed.

  • What is the charge for the waiver skills test?  $45

  • What does the BMV charge for the test?  $0
